Our Weekend Getaway...posted a few days late!

On Friday after working all day we packed up & headed to Boone! We were invited to go with some friends who we like "to do life with." (I heard that phrase love it so I'm probally gonna wear it out). After the extremely long ride of 1.5 hours, we arrived at our destination (a beautiful cabin), got settled in & stayed up chatting for a while.

Saturday all the girls just lounged around, watched movies and munched on junk food!! That evening Chris, me, Ashleigh and David went skiing at Sugar Mtn. Yes, they still had snow, but it was the last weekend they were going to be open. It was so much fun!!! I haven't skied in years but I felt like I just picked right back up on it. I think it's like riding a bike, once you learn you can always do it. You may be a little rusty at first but it all comes back to ya!

Sunday morning I cooked breakfast for everyone! I know that sounds like a lie but I really did!! I'm trying to conquer my cooking fears!! WE had chocolate chip pancakes ( my fave), bacon & eggs!! It was scrumptous!! After breakfast/brunch we cleaned & packed up & then relaxed for a few more hours before it was time to head home. Short trip but loads of fun!!

Maddox had a blast b/c he got LOTS of attention!! He was so good but we did have to put him in the bed with us one night b/c he wasn't really feelin sleepin in the pack n play. Can't say I blame him, it's just not his cozy crib!

Little Maddox is 9 months!!

Well, another month has done come and gone & what a difference a month
makes in the life of a baby!! Maddox had his 9 month well visit yesterday and he weighed in at 27.5 lbs and 31.5 in. long. He is 110% in height and 90% in weight. The Dr. said he is thriving and healthy!!! So Maddox, What are you up to now?

You are not crawling yet although tonight Daddy said you crawled about 5 ft backwards and then started going forward barely. So you are really close but just not quite there yet.

You have figured out how to scoot and roll across the living room to get the toy you want.

On March 13th I went to pick you up out of your crib and to my suprise you had learned to push yourself up. There you were sitting up pulling on your mobile!! It was funny walking into your nursery and seeing your head peeking above the crib bumper!

Your 8 teeth are almost completely in!

You said BIRD today at Nana's and Mommy & Daddy heard you say it when you got home!!

You are trying really hard to pull up on things.

You eat anything & everything we feed you!!

You still sleep all night long. We put you to bed between 9 and 10 and sleep until 8 am or later. I now have to wake you up to take you to Nana's.

You gave me a bunch of kisses tonight and it sure did make my heart melt!!

I know there is so much more that I am forgetting but I will add them in as I think of more!! My love for you keeps growing stronger everyday, I don't know how my heart can contain it all!!

Busy Weekend!!

On Friday morning Chris left for Winterfest in Knoxville TN. Winterfest is a youth convention that thousands of young people attend. They have well known speakers and popular christian music artist like Jentzen Franklin, Chris Tomlin, Isreal Houghton & New Breed. I was able to attend last year & it was a great time but I just couldn't leave my little man to go this year. So Chris went along to help chaperone and me & Maddox had a super busy weekend.

On Saturday we went with my Mom to Fatz for breakfast. A group of missionaries were having an all you can eat pancake fundraiser for an orphanage in Honduras. Maddox got to eat pancakes for the first time!! He loved them!! After breakfast I did my Mom's hair, then we met Laura & shopped for a little bit and for supper we met Daddy at Surf & Turf in Bessemer City. We went to a fish camp and it was before 6, so we were feeling really young! Ha!! The food was good though!! Maddox only had a one hour nap the whole day but he was still a trooper!!

Sunday, Maddox & I went to the early service at church. Chris always does certain things to help get Maddox ready & get us out the door on Sunday mornings so I was really missing him. By 8:30 I was already worn out from all the rushing around. Church was great & we heard a really good word about Gods Grace. My arm is sore today from holding Maddox during all the stand up times. (Once again missing Chris) Then we came back home, changed clothes, reloaded the diaper bag and car, picked up Mom, drove to South Gastonia, picked up Laura, ate at Bojangles then went to UNC Charlotte for Tori's Cheer Competition. After the competition all the girls went to the Cheesecake Factory. We had so much fun and I love getting to spend time with my family. At 11:00 I finally got to see Chris who I had missed so much. As we were laying in bed, he was telling me about his weekend. He asked me something and I was done a goner. Needless to say, I was really tired!!

At the competition

Check out our cheescake!!!

So over this busy weekend, Maddox started doing some new things. He drank a whole cup of juice from a sippy cup and he can now push himself up from his back into the sitting position!! Saturday night he started crying in his crib so when I went to check on him, I was startled when I saw his head sticking up above the railing!! I'm not use to seeing that. We will be having to lower his mattress soon. I'm sure the pulling up will come next and then the climbing. Oh my goodness I don't know if i'm ready for all that!!

Today has been a great day & I'm feeling rested up! I absolutely love getting the extra hour of daylight! I always feel like I don't work as late and I have more energy. It's amazing what daylight can do for ya!

It's My Birthday!!!

Wow, I can not believe I am another year older!! It's crazy to think how fast the year has gone. I know I say that a lot but It really does FLY!!! Last year at this time my husband suprised me by inviting family and some close friends out to eat for my 3oth birthday. He took me to Olive Garden & there was about 20 people waiting there to suprise me & celebrate my birthday!! It was great! I was also about 6 month pregnant with Little Man. I can't believe he wasn't even here a year ago. I honestly can't remember life without him now. So anyway, today has been a great day!! The morning was my usual routine....Feed Maddox, Play with Maddox, Maddox naps & I clean up, and then the getting ready to go somewhere process begins!! So by 12:00 I feel like I move mountains at home! I decided for my birthday that I wanted to treat myself to a shampoo and blowout. Since I didn't want to feel like I was at work, I decided to go to Becky at William Henry to just get a new experience in a different salon atmosphere. It was so relaxing and she did a great job!!
Andrea offered up babysitting services and watched Maddox for me, and then suprised me by already taking care of the tab!!! Wow, I am so blessed to have friends who go out of there way to make me feel so special!!
My evening was finished off by dinner with Chris & Maddox at Outback!! YUMMY!!! Can you say cheese fries with extra ranch!!! Oh so good!!!! I had lots of Birthday Wishes from friends and family and I'm just feeling extra special right now!!! All the birthday excitement helps me to forget about turning a year older! One thing about it....Life keeps getting better!!
The neighbors Jordan and Breanna made me this sweet birthday card!
What are some of your special birthday memories?

Oh My Aching Muscles!!!

Ok, so I really thought that hauling around a 27 lb. solid as a rock baby should somewhat keep me in shape!!! So wrong!!! Yesterday Chris & I got out in the backyard & played softball!! (Passing & Hitting) I think I may have over done it!! I can now barely pick up my 27 lb babe! Chris warned me that I was overdoing it but I kept saying, "just one more time". I should have been a good wife and listened! Ha!
The motivation behind the softball practice is .....Kim Gets To Play!!!! Yeah!!!! I am so excited!!!Our church is having a co-ed softball team & for the first time in my life I get to actually play & be apart of a sporting event. You see, this has not happened since I was in High School (which was many moons ago) so it's a really big deal to me. Also, in the past I have always had to work on the nights that the team would be practicing, but for once, they are practicing on a Monday Night!! Despite the fact I can barely move today, the practice with my Hub went well!! He taught me a lot!! He's a great coach!!! I have a lot to work on but I have a month before the show begins!!! (It could really be a show with me playing! Ha!)

Maddox was all over the living room floor tonight!! He's not crawling yet but he's getting really close!!! He even almost pulled himself up beside the couch!! I was laying there all into the Bachelor (Molly & Jason's Wedding) and was startled by two little hands grabbing the edge of the cushion beside of me. I looked over & there was Maddox trying to pull himself up to me!! Totally unexpected! That's just how quick babys start doing stuff. One day they can't the next day they can!! It's CRazy!!

Here is Maddox snackin on his puffs in the car as we wait for Daddy to come take over so Mommy can get her nails done!!!

So it has been a great Sunday & Monday and I'm lovin this warm weather!!! Flip Flops & no coat, love it!!!

The List!!

First of all, I am not the most organizied person in the world but one thing I have done pretty regularly for a long time is make a to-do list for my day off work. In the past, I could have 20 things on the list & it was my goal to mark all of them off! There is such a feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day to see you conquered THE LIST!! Well, now that I have an 8 month old, I have had to come to terms with the fact if I get 2 things marked off my list.....I have still conquered it!!! Ha! It's amazing how the little things in life change!! :)

Sometimes just to make myself feel better, I create this kind of list!!

Brush my teeth
Take A shower
Make the Bed
Feed Maddox Breakfast, Bottle, Lunch, Bottle, Snack, Bottle, Supper, Bottle
Clean Bottles & prepare them for the next day
Unload diswaher/ put away/ reload
Laundry/fold Laundry/fold Laundry/fold........put away Laundry
Change Diaper x 7
Rock Maddox to sleep x 2 or 3
Pack Diaper Bag
Pack Car (you feel like you have to pack the house)
Run errands .....Bank, Groceries, Target, Dr. Appts
Vaccum, Sweep
Cook Supper
Read to Maddox / Play with Maddox
Read my Bible

Get it!!! If I write down everything I do, I get to mark it all off & once again.....I'm Super Woman!!!

Cheerios were on my Grocery list for Monday & here is Maddox & his first time having Cheerios!!!
